Ⅰ. The raw materials can be recycled, contributing to environmental protection and sustainable development
The development of steel structure is especially significant for China, which is in shortage of resources and energy, because China is the world's largest country in brick masonry and concrete construction. Steel is a high-strength, high-efficiency material with a high recycling value, and the corners are also valuable and do not need to be molded for construction. At present, the international attention of the new residential products have been introduced into China, its environmental protection and energy-saving features are mainly reflected in two aspects (1) the type of housing using a fully enclosed thermal insulation and moisture-proof system, small temperature changes, low heat loss. Regardless of winter and summer, it has comfortable when living environment. When the outdoor temperature is 0 degree Celsius, the indoor temperature can still be kept above 17 degree Celsius; when the outdoor temperature reaches 30 degree Celsius, the indoor temperature is only about 21 degree Celsius. (2) Compared with the brick and mortar structure, it can save more than 60% of energy, and the air-conditioning equipment can save more than 30% of electricity consumption in winter and summer, and the waste utilization of the structure is 100%. Compared with the brick and mortar structure, the steel structure maintains a small wall area under the same floor net height condition, which saves the energy required for air-conditioning and reduces the maintenance cost.
Ⅱ. Steel structure building can meet the requirements of super height and super span
Steel is homogeneous, close to isotropic homogeneous body, high strength and high modulus of elasticity. Its density to strength ratio is much smaller than that of masonry, concrete and wood, and the self-weight of steel structure is small under the same stress, so it can be made into a larger span and higher height structure as well as a flexible structural form. Nowadays, mankind has the ability to build super dome with a span of over 1000 meters and super tall building with a height of over 1000 meters up to 4000 meters. And the combination of steel cable and membrane structure to form the cable and membrane structure system can better meet the requirements of the span of the building, making this type of building become a landmark building.
Ⅲ. The design and function of building and structure are integrated, making the building more functional
In the steel structure building, the structure becomes an important factor in the image composition, and the shape, members and nodes of the structure largely lead to and restrict the image of the building. Only when the design and function of building and structure are integrated can the building be more functional so that the subsequent design process can be carried out to create a steel structure building that integrates technology and art.
Ⅳ. High degree of pre-engineering, lower construction cost and shorter construction period
